Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment or endodontic therapy is a dental treatment that helps the dentist remove an infection from inside a tooth. It is done to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected.

Why do you need to undergo root canal treatment?

Root Canal Treatment or endodontic treatment is performed to heal the damaged or infected tooth. The infection could be due to an injured or broken tooth, deep decay, gum diseases or maybe due to reiterated dental treatment on a particular tooth.

It becomes imperative to get the Root Canal Treatment as:

  • It prevents the infection from increasing and will then save the tooth from extraction.
  • Endodontic treatment relieves the pain caused due to inflammation.

The process of Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is executed in steps, and many dental surgeons perform this process in three separate sessions.

  • Diagnosis by clinical experiment and x-ray.
  • Removing the root canal under local anaesthesia.
  • The infected pulp is separated, canals are cleaned and shaped.
  • Canals are then loaded enduringly with a tapered, rubbery material called gutta-percha and sealed.
  • Setting a crown on the tooth to check fracture
